Contaminants & Stains We Remove

Pressure washing for contaminants and stains

Pressure Washing For Organic Staining

Contaminants like mold is a fungus that grows in multicellular structures called hyphae. Mold can appear as fuzzy or slimy patches in a variety of colors, such as black, green, or white, and can cause health problems and damage to the exterior of businesses and homes. Mildew is a specific type of mold that tends to grow on flat, damp surfaces. It is usually gray or white and has a powdery or fluffy texture. Mildew often appears on materials like fabric, paper, or walls. Artillery fungus is a type of fungus known for its unique spore dispersal mechanism. It’s particularly notorious for its ability to shoot spores a considerable distance, which causes problems. Mold, mildew, and fungus release their spores, propelling them up to 10 feet away from the source. The spores of mildew, mold, and fungus cause unsightly stains on various surfaces, including vinyl siding, brick, concrete, and roofs.

Rust Removal

Rust is a common form of corrosion affecting iron and steel, characterized by its reddish-brown appearance and the deterioration of metal surfaces due to chemical reactions with moisture and oxygen. Addressing rust involves both preventive measures and treatment to maintain the integrity and appearance of metal objects and structures. Removing rust off of concrete and stone often involves applying a rust remover, letting it sit for a period of time, then scrubbing and pressure washing away. Rust remover chemically breaks down the iron particles, allowing them to be washed away, leaving the original surface clean and free of discoloration.

Power Washing For Efflorescence

Efflorescence is the formation of white, powdery deposits on the surface of masonry or concrete. It occurs when water-soluble salts within the material are drawn to the surface by moisture, where they then crystallize as the water evaporates. Efflorescence is often a sign of moisture issues and can be cleaned, but addressing the underlying moisture problem is essential to prevent recurrence.

Algae And Yellow Mustard Staining Removal

Contaminants like algae and yellow mustard staining are aquatic organisms that perform photosynthesis to produce their own food. They can range in size from microscopic phytoplankton to large seaweeds like kelp. Algae are typically found in freshwater and marine water, though some can grow in moist terrestrial environments, especially in pools. Yellow Mustard Staining in Pool Liner refers to discoloration on the surface of a pool liner that resembles the yellowish hue of mustard. This type of staining typically appears as yellow or golden patches or spots on the liner. Accumulation of organic matter such as leaves, insects, or algae, which can leave behind stains when they decompose. Reactions between pool chemicals (like chlorine) and substances in the water or on the liner can produce yellowish stains. Certain minerals in the water, such as iron, when oxidized, can contribute to yellow discoloration.

Soft Washing For Moss

Moss is a non-vascular plant that grows in dense green mats or clumps. It thrives in shady, moist environments and can grow on surfaces such as roofs, stones, and trees. Unlike mold and mildew, moss is a living plant and contributes to natural ecosystems. This is part of organic staining and refers to discoloration caused by organic materials such as plant matter, food, or animal waste. Common examples include stains from leaves, berries, or pets. These stains can be more challenging to remove than inorganic stains and often require specific cleaning methods by Josh Pressure Washing & Roof Cleaning.
